Volunteer opportunity: Plot - Tuesday 13th April 2021

Tuesday 13th April regular plot volunteer day 10.30am - 3pm

This week at the plot: Join Denise for a gardening session at our beautiful permaculture plot set in the heart of Stanmer Park. Tasks vary according to season but there is always plenty to do, so if you enjoy gardening or would like to learn more about permaculture gardening please join us! Weather permitting we'll have a nice socially distanced fire to sit around to eat our lunches. 

** Covid 19 - You must NOT attend this event if you or a member of your household has had symptoms of Covid-19 within 10 days prior to the session or had a positive test for Covid-19 within 10 days prior to the session or have been advised by Test and Trace to self-isolate.
In order to help manage the session safely we will have a limit of 5 volunteers for this session and registering via the link below is essential. Please don't turn up without registering - people who turn up without registering will be turned away, sorry! Please travel to the session as safely and responsibly as you can. We will be operating a social distancing policy and other Covid-19 measures according to government guidelines and you will be fully briefed by your team leader. **

New Volunteer? – See important information below

No experience is necessary and new volunteers are very welcome. We are on site 10.30 - 3pm and you can come anytime but if brand new please arrive by 11am for a tour of the plot (covers site orientation, health and safety, and gives you the opportunity to ask questions – curiosity very welcome)!

When you register you will receive an email which will give you a contact phone number in case you need to call us on the day.

Please bring

- Food and drink to sustain you for the session (packed lunch, snacks, flasks, water etc). NO SHARED LUNCHES POSSIBLE AT PRESENT.
- Secateurs (if you have them)
- Gardening gloves
We will have hand sanitiser on site but suggest you may want to bring your own as well.
Water bottles will be able to be refilled on site if necessary.


DRESS APPROPRIATELY FOR ROUGH TERRAIN AND PREVAILING WEATHER CONDITIONS. Boots! Waterproofs! Suncream! Thermal underwear! Sunhats!
Depending on the weather it can be cold wet and windy or a boiling hot sun trap!
The plot is not a neat and tidy garden - it's pretty wild! The ground is uneven, there are brambles and nettles in places. Please check weather forecast and dress accordingly.

You may wish to look at the satellite tab on the Google Maps link, as it shows some of the landmarks that might guide your way. The 'green route' should be open on Thursdays.

One last thing

Please check emails Wednesday evenings in case we have to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances/poor weather. Our team are pretty hardy so unless it's hurricane-style conditions they will be there anyway!
