Volunteer registration: Peacehaven Community Orchard Saturday 17th August 2019

Registration is closed for this event

Saturday 17th August at Peacehaven Community orchard 10.30am - 4.30pm

Help us to care for the trees!

We are working with Peacehaven Community Orchard to plant an orchard which will extend to over 100 apple trees. There are now 80 apple trees, including a number of rare Sussex apple varieties and other heritage varieties.

We need to repair some of the shelter nets which have been damaged by the wind. The orchard is in a very exposed location and the young apple trees need protection from desiccating winds. Each tree has been protected with a 1.8m shelter net on 4 posts to protect. We have planted a shelter belt which will eventually shelter the orchard.

There are also a number of other tree care tasks that need doing including mulching and weeding. Some of the work isn't heavy. Please come for all or part of the day. Kids welcome.

Your host

Please bring

- Food and drink to sustain you for the day although there is a nice cafe at the entrance to the site..
- Please dress for outdoor work - the site is exposed and there is no shelter so it is hot in summer and cold and muddy in winter. Take weather conditions into account please.

See google maps.
