Volunteer opportunity: Earthship compost toilet rebuild 15th August 9am - 5pm

Thursday 15th August Compost toilet rebuild 9.00am - 5pm

Volunteers are needed to help out with the Earthship Compost Toilet rebuilding.The compost toilet rebuild is being undertaken by Low Carbon Trust as part of the Stanmer Restoration Project which is funded by the National Lottery Fund and Big lottery Fund.

This is a one-day commitment. No experience is required, but carpenters and other skilled people very welcome! Please do not sign up if you can't commit fully to a whole day from 9am to 5pm!

*Please don't bring children -  this is a building project and we can't have children on site, sorry.*

This is a fantastic opportunity to learn practical building skills and how compost toilets work. The volunteer roles will include: basic carpentry; painting & decorating; building maintenance; sanding & treating the front timber face of the earthship with natural oil; window cleaning & general cleaning of the earthship; weeding, clearing up & general maintenance of the earthship grounds; other repairs and helping clear up at the end of the day.

The rebuild will run 7th-11th August and 13th-15th August and you are welcome to come as many days as you want but please sign up for each day individually as we have a limited number of places.

We will provide tea, coffee and other refreshments. 

Please bring

- Please bring a contribution to a potluck vegetarian shared cold buffet on all days or a packed lunch.
  Your contribution could be a salad, bread, cheese, dips, fruit, cake or anything else you can think of.
- Work gloves (if you have them)
- Dress for messy work and clothes appropriate for weather conditions.
- Sturdy footwear please, no sandals or flip flops.
