Volunteer opportunity: Plot - Thursday 14th February 2019

Registration is closed for this event

Thursday 14th February regular plot volunteer day 10.30am - 3pm

Valentines Day at our plot. What to say? Gardening can be romantic in the right company! Nature is known to be good for the heart and mind! Come and join us for our weekly plottering. At this time of year there is always plenty to do, outdoors and in our polytunnel, so come and enjoy nature and good company and share some lunch with us.

Remember, we've always got engaging tasks to do whatever the weather, and we always love extra company for tea, chat and our legendary shared lunches!

Please register to help out at this session. It really helps our plot team if they have an idea of how many volunteers to expect and keeps admin to a minimum. It's also important to us to have an emergency contact number - the plot is in quite a remote location, we appreciate having this number for your safety and the safety of our team..

New Volunteer? – See important information below

No experience is necessary and new volunteers are very welcome. We are on site 10.30 - 3pm and you can come anytime but if brand new please arrive by 11am for a tour of the plot (covers site orientation, health and safety, and gives you the opportunity to ask questions – curiosity very welcome)!

Your hosts

Robert Gizzi & Sam Nelson

When you register you will receive an email which will give you their contact phone numbers in case you need to call them on the day.

Please bring

- Water for drinking
- Food for shared veggie lunch
- Secateurs (if you have them)
- Gardening gloves (if you have them)

DRESS APPROPRIATELY FOR ROUGH TERRAIN AND PREVAILING WEATHER CONDITIONS. Boots! Waterproofs! Suncream! Thermal underwear! Sunhats!
Depending on the weather it can be cold wet and windy or a boiling hot sun trap!
The plot is not a neat and tidy garden - it's pretty wild! The ground is uneven, there are brambles and nettles in places. Please check weather forecast and dress accordingly.

Directions to our plot via Google Maps

You may wish to look at the satellite tab on the Google Maps link, as it shows some of the landmarks that might guide your way. The 'green route' should be open on Thursdays.

If you get lost, please call one of the team!

One last thing

Please check emails Wednesday evenings in case we have to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances/poor weather. Our team are pretty hardy so unless it's hurricane-style conditions they will be there anyway!

Hope you can make it!
