Apple Day 2018 Sunday 23rd September

Volunteer registration is now closed but if you would like to help we would be really happy if you come along on the day.

Morning shift is 8am to 1:30pm. The Afternoon shift is 1pm to 6pm.

Come to Stanmer Park and find our Info stall (one of the first stalls on the green) promptly either at 8am OR 1pm, and ask for Liz Ashforth – Volunteers Coordinator, she’ll find a team for you to help !

You can find more information about helping out below, and make sure you have a look at our main webpage (AppleDayBrighton.UK) to find out travel details and what to bring to make the most of the day!

We also need help in the run up to the event and after, you can find out more here.

It’s a celebration of locally and sustainably produced food and drink And we’d love your help! Apple Day is now in it’s 12th year and has gone from strength to strength. See photos here from last year's event.

We now welcome around 7,000 people coming together at Stanmer Park, in a celebration of all things appley - there are tours of the orchards, music, entertainment for kids, local craft stalls, and lots of yummy food and drink, including apple juice and cider produced on site!

Brighton Permaculture Trust is a charity that promotes greener lifestyles and sustainability by balancing the environments, individual’s, and the community needs. Apple Day is our biggest event of the year and we want it to be the most community centric eco-friendly event in Sussex. Sound good to you?

Volunteering at Apple Day

There are volunteering opportunities in the run up to the event, just before the big day, on the day AND the day after. What volunteers get

• Events experience
• Plenty of team work experience for those who want it
• Helping support sustainable products and promote the value of eating locally
• Food and celebration!
• Access to amazing group of people with diverse skills
• It’s also a great way to learn about eco-friendly lifestyle skills

As a volunteer you get free parking on the day.

Come and help out on the day

We need between 50 and 100 volunteers on the 23rd September itself, and we make sure to look after them. Lunch is provided after the morning shift, and there is a celebratory dinner provided after the evening shift, and for those volunteers and staff who have lasted the whole day. No previous experience is necessary and new volunteers are always welcome. The only requirement is enthusiasm for our charity and it's aims and the Apple Day values of local sustainability and learning, and commitment to make this event happen!

Please click on the registration link for more information about shift times and areas where we need help.

Regular volunteers for Brighton Permaculture Trust (fondly known as BPT) also get reduced cost on the courses we run, so if you would like to learn how to look after your own fruit trees, build a building from natural materials, grow mushrooms, or like the idea of sustainable design which can be applied to all parts of life then volunteer with us!

Leading up to the big day

Not available on the 23rd but still want to be involved?

There are plenty of opportunities to help prepare for the day including apple juicing, pie baking and site set up, so sign up to our mailing list via this webpage for weekly information about these and other more regular sessions or take a look at this webpage which lists all current opportunities to help out in the run up to the event (and the day after).

Hope you can make it!
